Paper on COVID-19 by DEIMP project team published in Information and Learning Sciences JournalAll DEIMP partners gladly participated in an initiative of our colleagues at The School of Education of the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway NUI to research the implications of the Corona pandemic on education in the 6 partner countries (Australia, Belgium, Cyprus, Ireland, Netherlands, UK) .
The resulting paper ‘Education in Precarious Times: A Comparative Study Across 6 Countries to Identify Design Priorities for Mobile Learning in a Pandemic’ was published by Information and Learning Sciences in a COVID19 special issue on emergency remote education. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Deimp project team had to cancel its final International Learning & Training Event planned to take place in Nicosia, Cyprus Nicosia, from Monday 29th March to Friday 3rd April 2020.The team, hoping at the time to get an opportunity to organise this event later this year, possibly in early 2021 is considering applying for an extension,
For news on this issue please check for updates under the Events Tab. DEIMP project partner INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences hosted this year's first meeting for the participants of the Dutch branch of the project's schoolnetwork.
Chaired by local coordinator Jeroen Bottema the school representatives discussed a range of topics including the processes and interim results of the second edition of the DEIMP online course and how practitioners interested in developing a (multimedia) case study based on one of the lessson scenarios they designed could be supported by the inHolland partner/coaches For more details see this blogpost ![]() In June 2019 DEIMP project coordinator and partner Kevin Burden & Matthew Kearney shared their research-based insights on approaches to and design principles for innovative mobile learning at ITE Forum, one of the activities of the of the EU project ITELab (Initial Teachers Education Lab), a Knowledge Alliance project between higher education institutions and industry to foster innovation and knowledge exchange in initial teacher education (ITE). The iTELAB project is an initiative of European Schoolnet, a pan-European network of 34 Ministries of Education. Recording of the full session available here Then in November Ton Koenraad, on behalf of Deimp partner TELLConsult, contributed to the final TEACHMEET session of The Networked Teacher – Teaching in the 21st Century MOOC for pre- and inservice teachers, provided by the European Schoolnet Academy. The key results of the EU projects MTTEP and DEIMP were briefly presented. For an impression see this short compilation of some scenes. See the full recording of the event here. Twenty-one participants attended a half day workshop held at the annual m-Learn conference in Delft, focused on designing innovative mobile learning pedagogies. The workshop was run by Kevin Burden and Matthew Kearney and was also attended by Ton Koenrad and Jeroen Bottema, projects members from the DEIMP team. Participants included academics from across the world including China, Asia, Africa and the USA. The workshop was also attended by the editor of the International Mobile and Blended Learning Journal, David Parsons, who briefly explained the process of submission for the special edition on Innovation in Mobile Learning which the project team are editing. If you are interested in registering for the next iteration of the online course (MOOC) you can enrol here:

Although the project took place in December 2017, the outcomes with regard to mobile learning, are still relevant today and are particularly important for fieldwork. This is a great conference to attend and is very relevant for anybody interested in mobile learning in non formal settings. Strongly recommended. #deimp #2019EFL
Today colleagues from the DEIMP team (Professor Kevion Burden; Professor Sandy Schuck and Professor Peter Aubusson) are attending the International Conference on Education and Learning (ICEL) in Osaka, Japan to present the latest findings and research from the DEIMP paper. Our paper is entitled: Developing and Evaluating Innovative Mobile Pedagogies: The DEIMP Project.
